LISEL ERASMUS-KRITZINGER - PROFILE

Lisel Erasmus-Kritzinger is the publisher of Inspirational Women at Work, about the life stories of 52 South African women who make a difference to South African society. Erasmus-Kritzinger also launched the National 1001 Women Modern Mentoring Project, a national mentoring plan to educate & link community-based leaders with mentors. She is also the author of a series of Business Communication publications used by tertiary institutions across the country. When she is not publishing, mentoring or initiating exciting new projects, Erasmus-Kritzinger lectures on corporate communication at the University of Johannesburg and consults to leading businesses about effective & strategic communication. A regular media commentator, Erasmus-Kritzinger is an editorial adviser for Leadership magazine. She holds a Master’s Degree in applied linguistics and is currently working towards a PhD in the field of applied linguistics, focusing on cross-cultural communications in South African organisations. Lisel is proud to be associated with the University of Stellenbosch and Fort Hare University through the Rachel's Angels & Inkwenkweni Projects aiming to empower young learners to successfully complete university degrees. She also formally advises the National Department of Education on examinations set for English Language Communication.

Detailed Profile:

Lisel Erasmus-Kritzinger was born in South Africa and grew up in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape where she completed her school career (grade 12 / matric) at Bloemhof Girls High School.  She holds a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics from Stellenbosch University and is currently working towards a PhD in the field of Applied Linguistics focusing on cross-cultural communication in SA organizations.

Ten years of full time lecturing experience in Management Communication inspired Lisel to effectively combine academic work on campus with corporate training & development,  specialising in a wide variety of creative communication activities. She is currently a  lecturer in Corporate Communication at Johannesburg University and  works with large companies in many industries, specializing in business communication training & development, corporate communication strategy development, the development of company communication & language policies and the empowerment of women in business.

Lisel will be publishing her 10th business communication publication this year. She is the author of 

5 business communication books including:

  • Corporate Communication – getting the message across in business (Van Schaik)
  • Advanced Communication Skills for Organisational Success (NasouViaAfrika)
  • Effective Communication – getting the message across in business (NasouViaAfrica)
  • Introductory Communication, Study & Life Skills (NasouViaAfrika)

10. Celebrating the launch of the National 1001 Women Project : Modern Mentoring Challenge - an initiative empowering women in South African communities through a powerful modern mentoring project! The National 1001 Women Project : Modern Mentoring Challenge was launched in September and the first 100 women nominated by the City of Johannesburg celebrated their achievement in Gauteng last month. Another 100 women to benefit from this initiative are currently at work in the City of Cape Town! 

Currently Lisel is identifying more inspirational stories to be told in the next publication, 'Inspirational Women at Work II' and tries to visit home (Cape Town) as often as possible.

Lisel serves on the Education Board of the SA Institute of Management acts as External Examiner for Business Communication UNISA

and she is

  • a regular host on a variety of radio shows 
  • contributor to newspaper columns & magazines
  • editorial advisor for LEADERSHIP Magazine.
